Aryan was our first Small Munsterlander
Pointer.
When Tom's labrador retriever was getting on in
years, he began looking for a puppy to start. He had competed
with Arlie in AKC Hunt tests, achieving the Senior Hunter title
and was himself an AKC Hunt Test Judge.
However, he did not wan t
to compare Arlie with a new dog, and so Tom looked at other
breeds that attracted him. Some years previous, when I was
looking for a narcotics detection dog I came upon a Small
Munsterlander Pointer being considered for sale. We visited
Barb Krieger and saw a young male called Barney whom the owner
was considering for sale. I liked him, but the owner elected
not to sell him after all. (some years later, the dog found its
way into the hands of Ned and June Sengpiel )
The
memory of the drive and intensity that we saw remained, and we
contacted the Sengpiels who had a litter out of Blanka v.
Krieger and sired by Jeiko v Jakobsbrunnen. We visited several
times, and ultimately came away with a female, Aryan v. O'Meara/Sengpiel. |

Aryan is the foundation of our
FoxTal Small Munsterlanders, and the wonderful dog who
introduced us to the fine qualities of this breed.
- First female Small
Munsterlander to earn a Utility Prize 1
- First female Small
Munsterlander to trial in the NAVHDA Invitational
Championship
- The second Small
Munsterlander of either gender to qualify for and trial at
the NAVHDA Invitational Championship at that time
- Full litter sister to
the first Small Munsterlander Versatile Champion (NAVHDA),
Andreas v O'Meara/Sengpiel
- Daughter of SMCNA "Dog
of the Decade" Jeiko vom Jakobsbrunnen
- Full litter sister to
the SMCNA 2002 "Dog of the Year", Andreas v. O'Meara/Sengpiel
- Full sister (repeat
breeding) to the second female Small Munsterlander to trial
at the NAVHDA Invitational Championship, Bridgetanne
Sengpiel.
Other Small Munsterlanders
have since followed, but these are the dogs who blazed the trail
in our history.
Aryan produced three
litters for us and is now retired from breeding, but remains
active as a hunting companion. Her "A" litter received
recognition from NAVHDA with a Breeders Award. She has
also earned points in UKC Conformation.

From Tom about Aryan:
Prior to obtaining
my SMP I had owned, trained and handled a
number of retrievers. I will never switch
back. My SMP is the best dog that I have
ever had the pleasure of owning, training,
testing, and hunting with. She is a
pleasure around the house and field. She is
the hardest hunting dog that I have ever
hunted over. She is a perfect blend of
beauty, brains, and guts. I have discovered
that SMPs train a bit differently than most
other dogs. She trains like a true German
dog requiring me to teach her first what I
expect and to be very fair in what I expect
of her. She is strong willed, yet
cooperative with me. She is always eager to
learn and has been a willing pupil. I love
having her and hunting with her.
