TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP: FOX VALLEY POLICE & SCHUTZHUND CLUB

 

ACTIVE MEMBERS- these members are entitled to vote, hold office and benefit in all advantages of this organization. All Active Members must also be a member of the United Schutzhund Clubs of America. Active members must attend a minimum of 6 general membership meetings during the fiscal year in order to retain their membership privileges.

The Annual Membership meeting in January will be held on a date announced in advance to the membership. All other monthly membership meetings will be held in conjunction with training on the first Saturday of each month unless otherwise stated.

Active Members must demonstrate their pursuit of training titles. A member cannot have been convicted of any felony, or a misdemeanor offense involving drugs or the mistreatment, neglect or abuse of animals.

Dogs being worked by Active Members in the club sessions must have submitted to hip X-rays prior to 30 months of age.

Dogs being worked in the club in the three phases of Schutzhund by Active Members may not be used for breeding without having attained a working title and received an A-stamp, OFA certification or its equivalent in hip X rays.

APPLICATION PROCESS- Application forms for membership may be received from the Secretary and the completed form returned to the Secretary for consideration. New members are accepted on the first Saturday on each month. Interested persons are welcome to attend in advance of this, without their dogs. At the time of their initial evaluation, new members will pay a $50 fee. They must attend four (4) consecutive training sessions, during which time their conduct as a prospective member will also be examined. After this evaluation period, the Training Director will discuss the results with them. The evaluation period may be extended an additional 4 sessions at the request of the Training Director, with no additional fee required.

Acceptance for probationary member status will be voted on at the next monthly general membership meeting after the member candidate has met those requirements. The four sessions must be completed in the month following the application, in order to complete an accurate assessment of the dog and the member’s commitment.

If the candidate chooses to continue in the sport and is voted into probationary status, the $50.00 evaluation fee is applied toward the annual membership fee.

FEES:

· INITIATION FEE, SINGLE MEMBERSHIP $150.00

· RENEWAL, SINGLE MEMBERSHIP 50.00

· INITIATION FEE, FAMILY MEMBERSHIP $200.00

· RENEWAL, FAMILY MEMBERSHIP 75.00

· ANNUAL EQUIPMENT/MAINTENANCE FEES $150.00

This fee covers up to 2 dogs per member. $ 5.00 per extra dog after 2.

RENEWAL: For the first year of participation in the Club, all members remain in probationary status. Renewal will be voted on at the annual membership meeting/ elections and will be based on the probationary member’s participation and attendance at training and other club events, as well as their positive representation in the Sport of Schutzhund. Discussion and voting will take place by members in good standing with the probationary member absent.

Should a member in good standing fail to renew membership and request following the membership lapse, after such required notice, in order to rejoin, the members will be subject to the same initial evaluation period, fees and probationary period as a new member.

GUESTS: Guests from other clubs, who are Active Members within those clubs, may attend training for a $5.00 fee per session, per dog. Those dogs are worked following the dogs belonging to Active Members in the Club.

HELPER MEMBERSHIP: In the case of a Club Helper who is not himself/ herself training a dog in the Club, the membership fee is waived. The Helper is entitled to vote, hold office and benefit in all the advantages of this organization and must also be a member of USA. Helper members must attend the required 6 membership meetings. In order to remain eligible for this membership the Helper must attend a minimum of one helper seminar per fiscal year, unless it can be documented that extraordinary circumstances prevented that.
